Jose Eleazar Ascanio is a relief pitcher for the Chicago Cubs. Piniella and Hendry are considering sending him down to AAA Iowa Cubs as a starting pitcher. Ascanio first played in the majors for Atlanta in 2007. The Cubs acquired him during the offseason. He finished 2008 with an ERA of 7.94.
