Chad Edward Gaudin is currently a relief pitcher, but a starting candidate, for the Chicago Cubs. He started his career in 2003 for the Tampa Bay Rays, which was known as the Tampa Bay Devil Rays at the time. He went 2-0 with a 3.60 ERA in 15 games. In 2004, he went 1-2 with a 4.85 ERA in 26 games. In 2005, Gaudin played for the Toronto Blue Jays. He went 1-3 with a 13.15 ERA in 5 games. In 2006, he played for the Oakland Athletics. He went 4-2 with a 3.09 ERA in 55 games. In 2007, he went 11-13 with a 4.42 ERA in 34 games. In 2008, while still with Oakland, Gaudin went 5-3 with a 3.59 ERA in 26 games. He was traded mid-season with Rich Harden to the Cubs for Eric Patterson, Josh Donaldson, Matt Murton (who was traded to the Rockies later), and Sean Gallagher. Gaudin went 4-2 with a 6.26 ERA in 24 games.
